Our July Employee Spotlight features Tea House Attendant and Arlington native James Ranfone. James is one of Steep’s newer employees, but he fits in so well it feels like he’s been here forever.

What’s your favorite part of your job at Steep?
The good vibes and smiling faces, as well as the tea.

Anything you like to do in your spare time? Hobbies?
Mostly making and listening to music, also biking, hiking, tennis, cooking, and video games

What are some interesting facts about you some people may not know?
I have a collection of about 500+ records across all genres. I rowed for 5 years, and want to get back on the water. My music moniker is cinocal, but I am not cynical. I’ve been a vegetarian for 5 years.

Where did you grow up?
I was born and raised here in Arlington.

What are some of your favorite movies?
The Lego Movie, Chan-wook Park’s Vengeance Trilogy, Space is the Place

If you could go on a dream vacation, where would you go?
I’ve always wanted to visit/live in Japan for some time.

What’s your favorite band/artist?
This changes frequently, but right now probably Flying Lotus and Madlib.

What’s your favorite local business besides House of Steep?
I am frequently at CD Cellar and Arrowine.

What’s your favorite tea?
Milk Oolong and Tulsi

What’s your favorite soak?
Centered Presence

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?
Hopefully multitasking audio production/recording and brewing kombucha and beer. Possibly in Santiago, Chile.
